Accessible Transportation in Santa Barbara County
Resources for Aging Adults and Persons with Disabilities
The following list of resources helps older adults and people with a disability get around Santa Barbara County without a car. Learn how Measure A local sales tax funds are helping increase transportation access here.
- Cycling Without Age – Provides joy and vitality to older adults and persons with a disability through the magic of a bicycle. This volunteer-based service will take you to the beach, produce stand, or around your neighborhood.
- Easy Lift– Provides Dial-a-Ride service on the South Coast from Ellwood (Goleta) through Carpinteria. Dial-a-Ride service is restricted to disabled individuals who are not able to use MTD and fares are $3.50. To make reservations, call (805) 681-1181.
- SMRT (Santa Maria Regional Transit) – Provides ADA paratransit services: $1.25 per ride, must be ADA eligible and submit application. For more information, call (805) 928-5624.
- Santa Ynez Valley Transit – Dial-A-Ride service for seniors. For more information, call (805) 688-5452.
- SMOOTH (Santa Maria Organiztion of Transportation Helpers) – SMOOTH has a Health Shuttle with service from Santa Maria/Guadalupe/Lompoc/Santa Ynez/Solvang to Santa Barbara as well as Senior Dial-a-Ride for seniors making any trips within the Santa Maria/Orcutt area. Call SMOOTH at (805) 922-0146 or (805) 922-8476. Rides are $1.00 to $3.00 each way depending on service and location.
- Community Partners in Caring Volunteer Driver Program (countywide) – Schedule a ride 5 days in advance by calling (805) 925-8000. This service cannot accommodate wheelchair users.
- Help of Carpinteria Volunteer Driver Program – Affordable transportation for all Carpinteria residents
- Access for All Santa Barbara County – incentivizes expansion and accessibility of Transportation Network Company (TNC) on-demand services (such as Uber and Lyft) for persons with disabilities and those who need a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).
