A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 27 at Main Street Produce (2165 W Main St, Santa Maria) to mark the completion of the Highway 166/Black Road Traffic Signal and Safety Improvement project. The public is invited to join the celebration.
This project introduces a new traffic signal system between Guadalupe and Santa Maria to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area. Additional safety improvements include turning lanes, enhanced lighting, reflective pavement markings, and new drainage systems to address flooding along Highway 166 and Black Road. The $2.53 million project is fully funded by Measure A, Santa Barbara County’s transportation sales tax.
Attendees will hear from members of the Measure A Citizens Oversight Committee, transportation officials, and representatives from the City of Guadalupe, City of Santa Maria, and the County of Santa Barbara, including business and elected leaders.
Recognized as a priority for residents traveling that corridor, this project has been a collaborative effort among several partners, including SBCAG, Caltrans, the City of Guadalupe, the City of Santa Maria, the County of Santa Barbara, Psomas, Rincon Consultants, MNS Engineers Inc., and Granite Construction. Join in celebrating this milestone achievement to improve safety and traffic flow for the community. Information will be presented in English and Spanish at the event. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
