Calling All Neighbors – Form an XL Carpool
Log vanpool commutes with SmartRide to earn rewards (SmartRide app available for Android and Apple devices). Between 30 and 175 vanpools travel within, to, or from Santa Barbara County.
Groups of 5 or more can share a new, leased SUV or van. Costs range from $100-250 / month based on daily miles, vehicle selection, and group size. Your commitment is month-to-month. Fuel, maintenance, and insurance are covered. Many employers offer a fringe benefit that lets you pay up to $325/month for a vanpool commute with tax-free income.
Quick Start Incentive
SBCAG offers the following to help vanpools get started:
- 50% of first month lease
- 25% of second month lease
- $100 New Rider Rebate after third month of participation
Vanpool must have a destination within Santa Barbara County and register to SmartRide.org. Vanpools receiving an employer subsidy greater than 50% are not eligible.
